In 1982 the book Holy Blood, Holy Grail by Michael Baigent, Henry Lincoln, and Richard Leigh hit the bookstands with a vengeance causing controversy within the theological theatre and unrest amongst traditional churches. The book presented a single idea, which was greatly supported by both hard core evidence as well as conspiracy theory.

Joseph of Arimathea, author of The Book of the Holy Grail, was the father of Jeshua ben Jusef, commonly known as Jesus. He was a High priest of the Melchezedek priesthood. When Jeshua was conceived, the Great Architect of the Universe came into Joseph, and Yse came into Mary, his wife. Thus, Jeshua was born of the bloodline of God and man. Thomas Jefferson, the original translator of The Book of the Holy Grail into English, was born April 13, 1743, in Virginia, which he called home for most of his life, serving as its governor and authoring its Declaration of Rights. Jefferson was also the primary author of the American Declaration of Independence in 1776. Thomas Jefferson served as governor of Virginia, a congressman, minister to France, secretary of state, and the third President of the United States. In addition to his political career, he was a lawyer, a classical scholar and linguist, a musician, a farmer and horticulturist, an inventor, and an architect, as well as having been Grand Master of the Strict Observance—Knights Templar, The United Orders of the American Rite. In addition to his translation of The Book of the Holy Grail, Jefferson also edited his own version of the traditional Christian gospels from textual sources in several languages. One of Thomas Jefferson’s most famous statements, inscribed on the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C., is, 'I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.' He died July 4, 1826, the 50-year anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Henry Mercer (Henri Mercier) was a Grand Master of the United orders of the American Rite, Strict Observance 1787. In 1853 he Americanized the Thomas Jefferson translation of The Book of the Holy Grail for the Chosen peoples, speaking the Chosen language (American English) in the Chosen Land (the United States of America). He was a Patriarch of the Merovingian Gnostic Church, Order of the Holy Grail.
