Sampler Files: A Technical Note

Unlike the books designed to be downloaded and read offline, Pulpless.Comtm Samplers have been designed to work optimally in an online web environment. The hyperlinks in the HTML code ask for files with an ".html" extension, even though the file names have an ".htm" extension. This shouldn't make any difference on Windows 3.1 or Macintosh platforms, but we've had a customer report of a problem with this on a Windows95® platform using Microsoft Internet Explorer. This is why our books designed for download, as opposed to these sampler files, have been designed with hyperlinks asking for files with an ".htm" extension.

So if you have any difficulty with the links in these sampler files while reading them offline, do a search-and-replace in the HTML files, changing ".html" to ".htm" and that will correct the problem.

Webmasters and Sysops: If you are placing these samplers on a website (see the README.HTM or README.TXT file in the downloaded sampler archive for information on conditions for posting the files), maintain the ".html" file extensions, because that will be necessary for the links to work in an online web UNIX environment.
